trying something new

Okay so I'm trying out this new talking dictation software. And what it does is allows me to talk into my phone and then it translates what I say into words. So I thought I would try this to see if it actually makes the process go faster or if it's slows me down. I am a pretty fast typer to begin with but I thought maybe this might even make the process go even faster. So while I'm testing this out I hope that I can find all of the mistakes before I publish it. If I don't I want to please apologize in advance for any mistakes or what have you in this blog.

Joey's adventure

Yesterday we took Joey our little boy puggle into the vet so that he could be fixed. We dropped him off at about 7:30 and then went home. At around 11:30 we got a call from one of the tech mission saying that he had gone through the surgery alright and was doing fine. We were really relieved because he was also getting his teeth done along with being fixed and to do both at the same time was a little risky but it was necessary because he needed both procedures. He had to stay over night and so they could monitor him and make sure he was okay. They told us we could pick him up in the morning today sometime after 9:00 AM.

Josh and I were really excited to see him but a little curious as to how he would behave. They said he was on IV fluids and had antibiotics along with pain medication. So we weren't quite sure how he was going to react. We also were a little worried about how our other little Puggle would react towards him being the fact that he wasn't going to be able to play with her as much for a while so that he could recover properly. She likes to bother him constantly and he is very sweet with her and let's her get away with murder.

As the door opened, he came running out to see us just as if nothing ever happened. We were quite surprised being the fact that he had just gone through quite an ordeal with two major procedures but we were very excited to finally see him and to see that he was doing okay.

We paid our bill which was expensive as usual vet bills are and headed home with a game plan in place. Josh would take Joey up the stairs into the bedroom. I would then go get Mia our little puggle and Caelyn our lab and let them up separately that way he could have time to relax and sit before he was bombarded with the girls.

Needless to say all worked well and everybody went upstairs to the bedroom and took a little nap. Tonight I've been really monitoring him to make sure that he's not being too active and I got to tell you, it's as if the surgery or procedures never even happened. Of course I have to escort him outside on the leash to make sure that he doesn't stay outside in the wet too much and doesn't do anything else that might jeopardize the stitches or whatever but he is doing quite well. According to Josh he is walking a little funny… Poor baby boy.

Christmas Dinner

My grandpa is in a rehab home right now because he became really sick and lost a lot of ability to walk. So we were excited to have him come to our house and have Christmas Dinner with him. I was a bit hesitant because I wasn't sure if he could make it, even if only for a few hours.

My mom was coming over too and so Josh and I along with my mom and grandpa were going to have a Christmas dinner. This would be the first time in a long time we could all eat Christmas dinner together. We were holding out that Grandpa and my mom could make it, even though my mom complained of being ill on Wednesday. We were hoping all would work out.

So Josh and I got all of the food we needed for the dinner. We got turkey, stuffing, biscuits. gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce and cake. Just a side note, Josh and I hate cranberry sauce but we got some for Grandpa and my Mom.

We were supposed to get the Turkey in by 10am but we slept in a little later than anticipated. But thanks to our new roaster oven I wasn't too worried about it because that thing is a miracle worker. So we got it in around noon which was fine. By that time I hadn't heard from my mom and so I was reconsidering the game plan. Could we handle getting him into a chair and hen into the house? What if we hurt him on accident. If, by some change my mom doesn't come can we manage helping him  with him being so weak?

So we played some video games and hung out waiting to hear from my mom to see what her plans were, if she was feeling better. I called and texted numerous time but no response. I had gotten sick toward the beginning of the week and i was sick and couldn't do anything. So I called my grandpa's place. Well I called my grandpa first. He couldn't hear me at all, and I had to identify myself several times because he forgot. After that attempted phone conversation I decided to call the place itself and talk to a nurse. My original plan was to ask grandpa what would he prefer to do. So i called and talked to the nurse who said he thought it would be better for us to just come to him.

So since we hadn't heard from my mom we decided to grab the food and take a plate to him before we ate. So we made up a plate, grabbed some sparkling cider and grabbed some presents and cards and headed out the door. It was really pouring outside and there were an unusual number of cars on the road.

When we got to the rehab home we met him in his room. He was looking so tired and ragged and I was so relieved that we hadn't decided to pick him up and bring him to the house. He ate the meal and enjoyed a glass of cider. After he was done eating we gave him his cards that had come into the mail for him from other family. i read him the cards, showed him pictures and we talked about the people. when I grabbed my card and read it to him he began crying. His face crinkled up and his eyes became sparkly. It was both touching and heartbreaking. To see my grandfather, a tough and strong man who raised me, crying is always tough for me. I told him I loved him and he was a blessing to me and we were so happy to have him with us for the holidays.

After the cards he opened his presents which I think he was happy to receive. He had wanted a shaver and a nice bi alarm clock and that is what we got. I got the big number clock from a convention in November for people with ow vision. I think it will turn out to be very beneficial for him.

After the presents we said our goodbyes and told him we loved him. He was very happy that we came. When we came home we sat down to a huge table of food and only the two of us to eat it. It was sooooo good though and we have tons of leftovers.

Caelyn

I love my dog Caelyn. She is so sweet and loving that it just makes me wonder how I got lucky to get her. She's so cute that sometimes we will be sitting together and she put her paw on my lap and that means that she wants to hold my hand. So we will just sit there holding hands and sometimes it'll last for several minutes

Christmas Weekend

Well the Christmas weekend is over. It was an interesting one and not what I had expected at all.

First of all I have been fighting off a cold which really sucked because it is my week off. So Friday Josh and I had to get all of our errands done. We or rather I had waiting too long to get things done.

We embarked on Thursday to first go to my grandpa's apartment to get him some clothes and a gift that my Aunt and Uncle had sent him. He lives in a retirement home. A week or so ago he had to go to the hospital because he had the flu really bad and being he is 94 years old, it hit him hard. So we picked the things up and traveled to the rehab home. He was fast asleep when we got there and I couldn't stand to wake him up. So we talked to the staff, social worker, and nurse and then left.

Friday we started our shopping which was really late in the game but I had been sick so oh well.

We first went to the liquor store. I don't drink much and in fact, alcohol doesn't like me too much. But I drink occasionally. Josh decided to get some Jack Daniels and I, of course, got some Bailey's. Then I went and looked for this wine I had a while ago. It was awesome and sweet. I don't drink hard liquor, only sweet stuff. I found some Plum wine which was only $6 which was a great deal I think. Now others might disagree because they are more versed in wine but hey I liked it.

We went to Costco to get some dog food and cake (yum). While we were there we made a mistake and stopped to look at TV's and I wanted to look at the New Galaxy Tab  by Samsung. I'll blog about that later. :-)

Next there was the game store. I had this brilliant idea to get a game for Josh that he wanted. Of course he was with me so I was sneaky. Turned out it wasn't there so I had to come up with something else. I was kind of pissed but again it was the night before Christmas so what am I gonna do? So we made a deal. I got a game, he got a game and they had a special that if you bought 2 you get the third free. Win! Win!

After that we went to Walmart. Yikes that was crazy but we knew that. We had an hour before they closed and I was pretty bummed because I wanted to get some presents there. So we got the food we needed for Christmas dinner. We were expecting my mother and my grandfather for dinner. We got a 14 pound turkey, stuffing mix, corn, biscuits, gravy and mashed potatoes.

At 8pm the store was closing and the police were there to make sure everyone left I guess and that things went smoothly.

Last stop was at Shari's. It wasn't our first choice. We wanted to try HomeTown Buffet but it wasn't open. So we settled for Shari's and had a Prime Rib sandwich with fries.

It was back home to unload groceries and then to relax the rest of the night.

Hi

Hello
Well I figured everyone else was doing it why not me? I have always been intimidated by the thought of blogging. What should I say? How much should I talk about or reveal? What will people think? What if I offend anyone? I still have those fears but will try my best. I guess I feel that if you are going to put your thoughts out there why pretend? If you are willing to blog then that means you are accepting what comes along with it. Hard to admit but true.

So with this I will try to be true to myself. I don't believe in being fake so that is my guiding motivation behind this.
